Pete Schmitt is a serial entrepreneur, computer scientist, and Land Geek. He grew up in Long Island, New York alongside his childhood friend Anthony Napodano who is also an entrepreneur and Land Geek partner. Anthony spent over 20 years as a teacher, principal, and district administrator in both New York and Arizona where he now resides with his family.
After working on Wall Street and for Corporate America, Pete decided that it was time to work for himself. He started his first business in 2001 and with Anthony, he has created multiple successful businesses from the ground up. Michelle Davis was introduced to the mix by Pete whom she does bookkeeping for the last fifteen years. She is an entrepreneur who has successfully established and run multiple businesses over the past two decades.

Scott: Check out remoteworkly.co, this is a synchronize video meeting you’re going to have with your team. You want to send them a message, you want to do a screen share, you want to do whatever you just go in there and put your message in there then they can reply back like giving meeting updates, etc. I can do it Sunday, Monday whenever I want. I think this is a better platform.
Pete: One book I love is Atomic Habits by James Clear, it’s so good because it really teaches you to look at what you’re doing on a daily basis and try to focus on where your built habits determining whether they’re good habits or if not good habits try to figure out a way to break that habit. It really reduces to the smallest subset. The book really does an amazing way, it has a way of looking at all of the habits.
Anthony: I also have a book that almost compliments the Atomic Habits, it’s called What Got You Here Won’t Get You There by Marshall Goldsmith. A little old book but something you can read. Instead, you focus on processes, you focus on 20 habits that are more transactional and relational that will make you more effective in those processes, and if you’re into leveling up which is the Land Geek Businesses is so much about, it’s about leveling up and you have to change if you’re going to get there. It’s these habits that you’re going to constantly tweak to get you better to make you more reflective and give you the next set of exercises so you can prepare your business for greater success.
Michelle: My tip is Tax Evasion is a crime, Tax Avoidance is not. What I mean by that is, as business owners we need to get into doing tax planning and not just at the end of the year when you see how much taxes you’re going to pay, scrambling to it to evade them. Tax Evasion is a crime, Tax Avoidance is not. Get to tax planning, it’s important.
